COLOCATION DATA CENTER IN A WIND TURBINE
dtm and WestfalenWIND implement the colocation data center architecture of the future in a wind turbine
Utilizing renewable energies for data center operations is a well-known topic. Plants utilizing biogas, geothermal energy or water are already in service. However, the idea of the WestfalenWIND company is new. The supplier of electric energy utilizes its own green energy and has installed a data center into one of its wind turbines. The data center technology is intended as a pilot project for colocation data centers and demonstrates entirely new ways for green IT systems in compliance with German safety standards. The project has been planned and implemented in cooperation with the dtm group. This company specializing in IT infrastructures and data centers was the only one able to offer a managed it solution to implement the data center infrastructure in the wind turbine.
